Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Summer Student to join our team as a Tourism and Event Assistant. In this role, you will play a key part in welcoming and assisting tourists visiting Taber while also providing support in the planning and execution of Taber Cornfest, our largest event of the year.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact for tourists visiting the Taber Chamber of Commerce office, providing friendly and informative assistance to answer questions, offer recommendations, and provide directions.
Assist in the promotion and marketing of Taber Cornfest through various channels, including social media, flyers, and promotional materials.
Support the planning and coordination of Taber Cornfest activities, including vendor coordination, logistics management, and on-site support during the event.
Maintain a clean and organized visitor center environment, ensuring that brochures, maps, and other materials are stocked and readily available.
Collaborate with the Chamber team to identify opportunities to enhance the visitor experience and promote local attractions and businesses.
Provide administrative support as needed, including data entry, filing, and other office tasks.
Requirements:
Enrolled in post-secondary studies or returning to High School in the fall.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with visitors from diverse backgrounds.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with social media platforms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Outgoing personality with a passion for promoting tourism and supporting local businesses.
Reliable transportation to attend meetings and events as required.
